Botataung Pagoda

The Botataung Pagoda is located on the Botataung Paya Road. Situated beside the Yangon River, the Botataung Pagoda means literally the Pagoda of the thousand military leaders and they were the ones who escorted the relics of the Buddha brought from India over two thousand years ago.The Botataung Pagoda was a famous Land-mark on Yangon’s waterfront. Pagoda is hollow inside and you can walk through it.

Vendors of Coconut, Bananas, shawls, candles, and other offertries, just outside the pagoda.

Ahmagyi Mya Nan Nwe, a devotee to the Botahtaung Pagoda. She was known to be a dragon guarding the pagoda. Hundreds of people come to this place to donate offertories and also to ask for blessing of the sister.
